About the Event

Synopsis: Based on the novel by Evelyn Waugh. Set in post-war Hollywood, this is a dark satire about colonialism & the creative arts industries.

On a surface level, the story itself revolves around the exploits of British poet-cum-screenwriter Dennis Barlow, who after losing his studio contract, takes a job (beneath his social standing) at Happier Hunting Ground pet cemetery.

Following the suicide of a 'close' friend Dennis becomes embroiled in a love triangle with a female funeral cosmetician, Aimee Thanatogenos, and her peculiar employer, Mr. Joyboy… And… Well, let’s just say things get very macabre.

About the Playwright:

David Elendune is an Canadian/English playwright who’s currently best known for adapting a wide variety of external source materials.
