Synopsis:
Set in post-war Hollywood, this is a dark satire about colonialism & the creative arts industries.
On a surface level, the story itself revolves around the exploits of British poet-cum-screenwriter Dennis Barlow, who after losing his studio contract, takes a job (beneath his social standing) at Happier Hunting Ground pet cemetery.
Following the suicide of a 'close' friend Dennis becomes embroiled in a love triangle with a female funeral cosmetician, Aimee Thanatogenos, and her peculiar employer, Mr. Joyboy… And… Well, let’s just say things get very macabre.
About the Playwright:
David is an Canadian/English playwright who’s currently best known for adapting a wide variety of external source materials. He has been trained in all disciplines of stagecraft in England by John Sichel, who previously directed such knights of the stage and screen as Oliver, Bates, Guinness, & Richardson. David's last three productions (Leer, Frankenstein, Sherlock Holmes & The Curse Of Moriarty) won awards and/or set box office records in Victoria.Â
